The Backups go to a 2ND HDD specifically used to store backups and the HDD is auto-mounted at boot up.
Are there settings that could send the data to other locations as well?

Here is a strange. I placed the HDD in an external reader and looked at the hard drive itself. It is a two month old WD 500 GB Blue. It said my hard drive was 95% full!
I removed all of my important files and videos and stored then on an external drive.
I reinstalled the 500 GB HDD and it worked as normal again(?) No password needed as it is turned off.
I also found that all of my video files were in the same named folder "Videos" THREE TIMES. Not the same folder but 3 folders of the same name!
Not Video-video-video but, delete the whole folder and another pops up filled with the same videos I just sent to trash. This happened three times???? It was as if there were three layers of folders. This happened for ALL of the basic file folders!
I have no idea as to why the folders were repeated. But I found all of the "basic" folders were on the hard drive in three different duplicate menus!
At no time did I make a "new folder" as the ones in the menu were just fine for what I do.
Is this a setting issue? A menu issue? a hidden bug?

My BACKUP HDD is in the computer and is used for only backups. I cannot read the files names in the back up so I have no idea if everything is copied three times.
Any idea as to why all of the basic menu folders were repeated three times on the hard drive?
I always load an OS from a completely wiped ( write Zeros to HDD ) drive and do a clean download to the drive.

On another computer running LL I went to the HELP manual and did the "reset password" instructions. I reset the password and rebooted as in the last step.
The computer is doing the same thing. I type in the password, the screen goes black for a few seconds, and then comes back to the same desktop asking for the password. Is the hard drive corrupted? A virus?

I did 18 software updates today for LL via the update icon and now the computer is asking me for my password. It has NEVER asked me for a password and WILL NOT TAKE the password that I use for authorization computer.
I put the password in, the screen goes blank, and then comes back to enter your password.
If I put in a known WRONG password,it see that instantly and says wrong password. The computer was fine until I did the updates.
I can do nothing now on that computer as it wants a password I do not have.
How can I gain access to my computer?
