Are you able to fit more RAM- Always best when running 64bit .   What is the make and model of the laptop.
I increased my  Fuji Si1520 by just 1 GB ram to 3 GB and it made a considerable difference to the speed.   I would suggest you persevere a little bit longer., especially if the laptop was running ok on the Live DVD  before installation.  I presume you were doing a full  single install, not running it as dual boot ..
2006 - HP DC7700p ultraslim Desktop Intel 6300 cpu  4GB Ram LL3.8 64bit.
2007 - Fujitsu Siemens V3405 Laptop  2 GB Ram LL3.6 32bit. Now 32bit Debian 9 + nonfree.
2006 - Fujitsu Siemens Si1520 Laptop Intel T720 cpu 3GB Ram   LL5.6 64 Bit
2014 - Fujitsu Siemens Lifebook E754 Intel i7 4712MQ 16GB Ram LL6.6
2003 - RETIRED Toshiba Satellite Pro A10 1 GB RAM LL2.8 32bit

If you installed LinuxLite 4 and you are not using vbox, do the following:

Performance Tips:

- For start up (boot time) - if you have no plans to run VirtualBox, and you want faster boots, you can remove it's supported additions:

Code: [Select]

sudo apt purge virtualbox*
sudo systemctl stop vboxadd.service
sudo systemctl stop vboxadd-service.service
sudo systemctl disable vboxadd.service
sudo systemctl disable vboxadd-service.service

This will greatly reduce boot-up

I'll try it.Ty a lot man.

Got it man, thank you so much.Did you know any browser that takes less RAM than Firefox?
Or any ideia of the reason for the PC take so much time to boot up?
Thank You a lot.

I also use Opera browser, as well as Firefox.

Hi @Mcymb ,

First of all, the icons that were on the desktop before installation, do not appear after installation, so
that is normal. You can access all the 'icons' and programs from the start-menu.

Firefox is heavy for an old computer. It takes a lot of RAM to use it, so it is not unusual if you have 2Gb RAM
and the computer is slow. Please try NOT to have many tabs open simultaneously when you use it

What's up guys, this is my first forum topic, so sorry if i posting in the wrong place of forum.
I have a not very good notebook, which I would like to use again, but this time with linux. After some testing with other distributions (which did not recognize the video driver or the network driver), I did some research and opted for Linux Lite. After the installation, I have some problems, which are:

-The icons that were on the desktop when I installed it, are gone (Not a big problem, but it might be useful for you).

-The computer is too slow. When i use firefox, 96% of my CPU gone, open any window is slow, and when i installed firefox in my language, the firefox icon dont appeared.

-The computer don't reboot (a bugged pixels screen appears) and takes a lot of time to Boot Up.

Well guys, if any of you can help me, i will be VERY GREATFUL. Sorry for my bad english. I'm brazilian.

My notebook specs:

CPU: Intel Core 2 T5500 1.66Ghz

RAM: 2GB

Last version of Linux Lite.

Not video card.
