Edited:Problem Installing Thonny IDE on LL. How to update Thonny?

(1/1)

Ean:
Hi,   I'm setting up a Raspberry Pi Pico microcontroller. The Pico appears as a mass storage device, labelled RP1-RP2, which is good. I'm trying to install the Thonny IDE in LL for programming the Pico. But when the instruction "In the bottom right-hand corner of the Thonny window, you will see the version of Python that you are currently using" stage appears, there's nothing there to click on.  I need to click on this to open a dialogue box which enables me to select the "Micro python Raspberry Pico" option and to continue with the installation.

This query may be poorly phrased as I have no programming experience at all, but have successfully installed LL 3 times and done several Windows installations.

Although I've downloaded Thonny from the Thonny website, I revisited the site and have discovered that the Linux version of Thonny downloaded may not be the latest, according to the site.

This might explain the problem I'm having, and an update may be needed..

Can I update Thonny via LL, and if so, how?

Any help would be appreciated.
