I think that would explain the pop up. I think the test for it appearing requires the default folders to be in their default locations with their right names in the right language.  It doesn't explain the pop up being in foriegn language, but as that has all been overwritten now, I guess we are stuck with not knowing.

Regarding the note that appeared on the newer laptop
Really don't know what this is.  Never seen anything of this nature and I can't think what you mean.
I can't think of a scenario in which one independent system would report it's status to another independent system.

If the older laptop was completely disconnected from any network i.e. no ethernet cable plugged in, not joined to any wifi network, no bluetooth peering etc then it is very difficult to see how they could interact with each other in any case.

If you can describe the note that appeared on the newer laptop or better recall the wording it might ring some bells but I'm struggling.

When I installed 5.6 on the older laptop, it wasn't connected to the internet. The newer one was connected to the internet. That note appeared on the screen of the newer laptop.  So it would seem, the two laptops were communicating without the internet?

The data in your previous post (I think from the Aspire E15 laptop which at the time was running 5.8 with the foreign language pop up) suggests that the usual 'Documents' folder was not there and I think this would trigger the pop up.

Was there any legitimate reason the Documents folder could not be found on this system?

If I understand correctly, you then installed 5.6 on the Aspire E15 system which will have over written the 5.8 data.
This will now be assumed to be a 'clean' machine.  At some point you will need to connect it to the Internet to get it updated.

Having installed 5.6 on the older E15, you then noticed something unusual on the newer Aspire 3 and are asking about this.
Can you tell us a bit more ?

That completes the download.

The safety suggestions you gave are pretty much standard procedure of me. But it doesn't mean I haven't slipped up.
I will start the removal and reinstalling of the programs.

Wait.... I'm confused even more. I reinstalled 5.6 on the old laptop, an Acer Aspire E15. I didn't connect to the internet. I turned to my other laptop an Acer Aspire 3, and there's a note saying Linux Lite 5.6 has been installed. How did that get there? Anything to do with the Enable Networking?I don't want them connected. I'm getting too old for this.......
