silja05,

l337n1nj4 is correct.

When you go through Desktop Settings menu, notice that you are navigating to a specific folder that holds various pictures, not a specific picture.

Once you click "Open" after selecting a folder, the pictures in it will then show up for you to click on and use.

If you had a picture somewhere else other than the folder you designate in Desktop Settings for wallpaper choices, just navigate to it from the regular file manager (not from within Desktop Settings) -> right-click it -> select "Set as wallpaper".

When you reach that point (the point you've captured with your screenshot), just click the Open button. It will then list each individual wallpaper, choose which one you'd like, then hit Okay. Done  ;D

Do you have more than one monitor?  If so, see this page in Help Manual for clues how to set up background images:  https://www.linuxliteos.com/manual/hardware.html#dual_monitor.

If you only have one monitor, post back with a screenshot of the Desktop Settings window showing the problem.  See here for how to post a screenshot.

When I try to change the image using 'desktop settings',
all my image files are greyed out so I can't select any of them.

Help, please.
