First link from Moltke is what I was going to say.
*But : also, use the winehq-devel version, not the one int the standard repository.
I'm not in a Linux machine at the moment but "official" Ubuntu stable version was at 1.6 or 1.8 last time I checked.
Developpement version is at 3.1 and has a lot more compatibility, etc.
Only problem I had with it in the past is that the icons from the Whisker menu disapeared after installing new version, just a note.
I think you can still install WineDev from WineTricks (or was it PlayOnLinux). Or use the procedure on the WineHQ web site itself (for Ubuntu).
*But 2 :  also if Wines asks to install Mono of Gecko, do so.

Cheers and Good Luck Linux! ;)

Does Wine emulate Win7/8/10?

Yes, it does, see here: https://askubuntu.com/questions/784279/can-wine-run-windows-7-apps
However, bear in mind that not every Windows app will work :( I had to create a Windows 7 VM so I can use a couple of apps that won't work in wine. You should read here too to find out https://appdb.winehq.org/

I use and love Spotify as no app is needed to stream music.

Spotify is available for Linux https://www.spotify.com/int/download/linux/

Thank You!

The purpose of using iTunes is only to stream music (like Spotify) not organize music files!
I use and love Spotify as no app is needed to stream music. It can be used on any browser with Spotify Web Player.

I have used Spotify Premium for free as part of a Vodafone promotion plan I have for my smartphone.

Now they had the brilliant idea of changing Spotify for Apple Music which requires iTunes latest version to run on a PC!
I've installed it on my other laptop that has Win10 but can't do it for LL.
Also tried Wine with PlayOnLinux.

Does Wine emulate Win7/8/10?
The iTunes install wizard says I need a newer version of Windows.

I'm sooo pissed off because I really like Spotify :(

WINE imulates windows 2000 enviroment(to old right) so only apps supporting windows 2000 will work (i dont think theres a fix) u can install windows 7 sp1 in a virtual box or dual boot linuxlite and windows a s a last resort

Wine can emulate Windows' last version as well as previous ones, at least last version does.

Did you install winetricks? Sometimes this helps.  Also, I don't use iTunes so I don't know the differences, but there's a Linux alternative called aTunes:

It is not in the repositories so you'll have to add one, open a terminal and type:
Code: [Select]
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:noobslab/appsthen
Code: [Select]
$ sudo apt-get updateand finally to install it
Code: [Select]
$ sudo apt-get install atunes
You could also download it as a deb file from it's website: http://www.atunes.org/  and install it with gdbi

I just installed it using noobslab ppa and it worked

Hope this helps! :)

Hey

I can't seem to install ITunes under Wine for LL.
I did the following after some research:
https://wiki.winehq.org/Ubuntu

Downloaded the ITunesSetuo.exe for 32bits from ITunes page.
Right click on it > Properties > Open with: Wine Windows Program Loader.

Double click on ITunesSetup.exe icon, after a while the ITunes installer launches it says:
"Gathering required information...
Status: Evaluating launch conditions"

Immediately a box appears saying:
"Install Failed
iTunes requires that your computer is running Windows 7 sp1 or newer"

Any help on this?
Thank you
