Why not try Puppy instead?

The one with LXDE desktop runs smooth - no trouble accessing data on LL.

Having previously used Knoppix for recovery jobs and banking, I have dropped it for the time being due to issues.
Terry Davis Command Line video cracks me up.

Hi everyone,
I made a KNOPPIX USB stick to recover some date from a friends (probably corrupted) Windows installation. I wanted to test it on my LL machine but I can't mount the partitions.
Trying to mount them give this error:
Code: [Select]
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sda1,
missing codepage or helper program, or other errorIn some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
dmesg | tail or so.
running
Code: [Select]
dmesg | tail
gives this:
Code: [Select]
JBD2: Unrecognised features on journal
EXT4-fs (sda1): error loading journal
I found a thread on github with someone having the same issue but the thread was closed by saying it was something wrong with fstab but not what exactly and it's connected to the Kernel not supporting newer versions of ext4.
I have KNOPPIX 7.2 as it is the newest version that still fits on a 1GB USB. It runs on Kernel 3.9.6.
In KNOPPIX the fstab entry for both partitions is
Code: [Select]
/dev/sda1 /mount/sda1 ext4 noauto, users, exec 0 0This might not be a problem on the Windows machine but it would be good to know should I ever mess up my LL installation.
