I don't (knowingly) have a Firefox account so can't comment on using sync. I use the same profile copying as Swamp Rat to replicate all Firefox settings, plugins etc between installations.

To quickly and accurately find the location of the working firefox profile you want to replicate you can -

Open firefox
Click 'open menu' icon
Click 'help'
Click 'troubleshooting information'

This shows the hidden directory where your profile is held. You can back it up and/or copy it to another installation as required.

Ensure Firefox is closed before manipulating/copying the profile directory contents.

I have successfully copied my entire Firefox settings numerous times in numerous distros. I now have Firefox running exactly the same on 3 computers -- same Bookmarks, Start page, and stored logins, +++.

In Home folder, do Ctrl-h to show the hidden files. One will be named .mozilla, with Firefox as a sub-folder. Copy the Firefox folder onto a thumb drive or other media. Then Paste that Firefox folder into another computer. That should give you everything. If that doesn't work, try copying and pasting the entire .mozilla folder.

Notes: This may be unnecessary, but I have always first run Firefox without the copied folder, so that the folder is created by Mozilla. I do recall that in Win7, the Firefox folder was a sub-sub-sub folder under Programs, I think, and it had a bunch of digits at the end, I believe. I deleted those numbers when I copied it, and it worked for me. I also copied the entire Firefox to the last partitions of my hard drives, for if needed ever.

I was finally able to get sync to work, but it did not do a good job of transferring my preferences.  I would like to try adding my other FF profile and see how that works, but the non storage contents of the home folder are hidden in version 5.0 of LLOS.

I have 2 PC's running Windows 7 and both have Firefox as the default browser.  I have created an account with Firefox and can log into my account on either PC with the same credentials.  I have also ser up sync and was hoping to use this to update all of my Firefox settings in LLOS 5.  I seem to recall being able to do this in LLOS 4.8.  However when I try to login to my Firefox account using the same credentials, I get "unknown account".  I have tried this many times and continue to get the error.
