Security Updates can be configured to download and install automatically but any other updates will need a script.

1) Start Synaptic Package Manager and after entering your password, click on settings and choose Repositories.
2) On the new dialog that pops up choose the Updates tab
3)Look for "When there are security updates" and click on the adjacent dropdown box and select "Download and install automatically"
4) Close that dialog and that should be it

Hope this helps :)

Nothing automatic in the form of running the update and installing - but I'm sure one could script something.

Although Linux updates really aren't as a necessity as Windows... More for improvements/fixes or similar updates..
Is it a good idea to update, yes it is..

LL does have Update reminders of sorts...
You can enable the Lite Widget (see sessions and startup) you will see a counter that reminds of the last update, as will 'Lite Updates Notify'.

Sample of Widget:

If really wanting something scripted you could search for something similar:

Been searching and searching to see if automatic updates is a feature
that is available in Linux Lite 4.2, but can't find anything.

If not, was it available in previous versions ?

Is there a provision to make the updates download and install automatically ?
