@mdiemer ,

I made a post here showing a screenshot of the items in my panel.  Perhaps you can compare your panel settings to mine.

More progress. I added separators, expanded them and now have icon on both the left and right sides of the panel. But when I add another, it always goes to the very end on the right. I want my email to be on the left, with Firefox. How can I get the icons to go where I want them, either on the right or the left? Moving them doesn't work, they won't move to the other side of the panel.

Edit: I just realized that this should have been posted in the Customization section. sorry about that, please relocate. :-[

Well, I've made some progress. I discovered that I'd inadvertently moved the "rows" slider in Panel Preferences, and this caused the "Width" adjustment to go wacko. I moved the rows slider back to 1, and the width then behaved itself and I was able to adjust it as desired.

Now however I have a different problem. All the icons I had added are now in one row, starting with the whisker menu on the left. I can't seem to move any all the way over to the right. I used to have half on  thwe left and half on the right. How do I get back to this configuration?

I messed up my panel, so that it won't render below a certain size (which is way too fat). I can't find where there is a way to reset everything to default settings.
