What we get out of the box from Jerry is the biggest strength of LL. Not worth tampering with useless effects IMHO  :)

Many thanks torreydale & I think you may well be right pauloz.  I'll try torreydale's LL video link before finally giving up.

Cheers
Mike
64bit OS (32-bit on Samsung netbook) installed in Legacy mode on MBR-formatted SSDs (except pi which uses a micro SDHC card):
2017 - Raspberry pi 3B (4cores) ~ [email protected] - LibreElec, used for upgrading our Samsung TV (excellent for the task)
2012 - Lenovo G580 2689 (2cores; 4threads] ~ [email protected] - LL3.8/Win8.1 dual-boot (LL working smoothly)
2011 - Samsung NP-N145 Plus (1core; 2threads) ~ Intel Atom [email protected] - LL 3.8 32-bit (64-bit too 'laggy')
2008 - Asus X71Q (2cores) ~ Intel [email protected] - LL4.6/Win8.1 dual-boot, LL works fine with kernel 4.15
2007 - Dell Latitude D630 (2cores) ~ Intel [email protected] - LL4.6, works well with kernel 4.4; 4.15 doesn't work

I've tried Compiz on LL previously and honestly, I'm not a fan of it as it's very buggy. The effects do not always work but my biggest gripe is that quite often LL will not restart properly (I get a blank screen) after I suspend or hibernate. The same problem occurs with Compton. What we get out of the box from Jerry is the biggest strength of LL. Not worth tampering with useless effects IMHO  :)

Following my experience of the somewhat amusing/intriguing 'wobbly windows' effect in Zorin OS, when I last used that OS a couple of years ago, I thought I'd try and reproduce the effect in LL2.8.
I've installed CompizConfig Settings Manager from Synaptic Package Manager, and have successfully installed the relevant compiz plugins by running the following command:

Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get install compiz compizconfig-settings-manager compiz-plugins
The 'wobbly windows' option in the CompizConfig Settings Manager has been ticked, together with the 'Composite' and 'OpenGL' options.
However, following more than one reboot, the wobbly windows effect doesn't seem to be activated.

Could it be that this effect is only compatible with a Gnome desktop (as in Zorin) and so therefore wont work with Linux Lite's XFCE?
As usual any help is much appreciated...
Cheers
Mike
