It could be a Pulse Audio issue. You can replace it with ALSA. Probably get some performance boost. But then you will not be able to call anyone with Skype. Skype needs Pulse Audio to make calls.
How To: Completely remove PulseAudio & replace it with ALSA
I don't use Chrome very often. I use Firefox mostly. I have nVidia geforce gt 430 card and propriatary drivers enabled.
I get a little performance boost when I disable GPU validation and enable Hardware acceleration.
I've created 'mms.cfg' file in /home/user/.adobe/
If you want to try this:
Code: [Select]
echo OverrideGPUValidation=1 >> ~/.adobe/mms.cfg
Code: [Select]
echo EnableLinuxHWVideoDecode=1 >> ~/.abobe/mms.cfgYou can edit the file with text editor and change values from 1 to 0 (1 enables, 0 disables)
Code: [Select]
leafpad ~/.adobe/mms.cfgOverrideGPUValidation=1
EnableLinuxHWVideoDecode=1
for example you can set the file content it like this:
OverrideGPUValidation=1
EnableLinuxHWVideoDecode=0
Or like this
OverrideGPUValidation=0
EnableLinuxHWVideoDecode=1
Find the one that is best for you.
Once you make the changes save them, restart the browser and give it a try.

I think I can put an end to this discussion.  I have gone back to Chrome and discovered that I had the newstream screen zoomed to 175 and I have sync problems there...when I decreased my zoom to 33 the sync problems disappeared.  I am back on Chrome now...feeling embarrassed. Maybe I am masking another problem by zooming down to 33, but I'm happy.

Both choices are available from Install Additional Software.

If you really want to use Chrome , I would try this :

http://www.howopensource.com/2011/10/install-google-chrome-in-ubuntu-11-10-11-04-10-10-10-04/

The Google signing key and PPA are already included in LL.  To install Chrome just use Menu -> System -> Install Additional Software and pick it from the list.  Have a feeling that's what was already done before by Dana Marsee.  Unfortunately, I don't have any good ideas on why audio/video sync problems occur.

So do I friend. I prefer Chrome over Chromium.  Glad to get things smoothed out, but miss my good ol' Chrome  Browser.   ;D

Problem solved.  I installed Chromium and then installed the pepperflashplugin and my videos are smooth and in sync.
I think, at least in my case, there is an issue with the adobe flash player.  But I was able to work around it.  Firefox and Chrome are useless for streaming newscasts for now.

Thanks rokytnji and Jerry for your time and help.  Hopefully this issue will clear up on it's own.  I appreciate your help.
