FF also crashed my system on 2.0 which is why I went back to 1.0.8, but I will give 2.0 another go and try reseting or purging/installing FF 30. Lubuntu 14.04 also gave me similar problems.

Righto! I tried resetting FF30 and now it works as if it was never broken.  :D

I can't give any guesses as to what was wrong; never saw it act like that in Linux or Windoze.

Since I didn't known about FF's Safe Mode, Scott wins this laurel and hearty handshake.

I had the problem too.

FF (with refresh per minute of sites along each other), Akregator (with refresh), Sylpheed
(also with refresh), Chrome and sometimes other programs consumed after some hours
so much memory that I extended memory. After that I went searching.
(All on a modern Asus pc with 2 gig of memory.)

With the memory-applet I could see the ever increasing of the use of memory of FF.
So I have installed add-ons 'empty cache' and set to automatic and by hand, 'ram back', 'memory restart' and later as an alternative 'ram restart', which is tiny better.

My problems are over and it looks like FF is doing better overall at the moment?!

The desktop-icons sometimes jumped to the left but I've not seen this now for a while.
Maybe it had to do something with the use of memory..?

I have used the last two years the very good Xubuntu, I know the fine PCLOS MATE,
Mint 17, a little less SnowLinux and some others but... Linux Lite is the best for now in my opinion.  ;) Crispy, fast, sparky and stable. More stable than (XKLU)buntu as far as I can see; just as stable than Debian. And it is much lighter...!
So back-ups for instance with Clonezilla are very fast. :D

I tried FF29 with LL2.0, and it also crashed the computer.  :o

I'm going to try 1.0.8 and see what happens, along with FF's Safe Mode in 2.0.

Almost didn't catch the edit on your original post. See if this helps:

Open a "run" dialog box:
> (alt-f2) or
> menu > run program (classic xfce menu)
> menu > type "run" in search field > click run program (whisker menu)

In the run dialog box, type:
Code: [Select]
firefox -safe-modeClick the "launch" button

Firefox Safe Mode Window will open. You have two options
1. Start in safe mode
2. Reset Firefox

Hi Mark. I'm not experiencing any FF crashes on LL2.0/64 in VirtualBox. Are the crashes happening all over or on specific websites? Please list a few websites and I'll try to reproduce the crash. Does disabling extensions help? Please list the specs of your CPU, RAM, and hard drive space.

New to LL2.0, but FF30 is crashing system when it starts up. This doesn't happen with Chromium, and did not happen on a different machine running PC Linux OS LXDE and FF30. No system update missed or skipped.

Hardware : EMachines w/AMD64 single-core processor, 2GB RAM, 150GB HD -- plenty of drive space/RAM available per system monitor tool.

FF30 crashes the computer when starting, so it never gets to a web page--can't even get to a blank home page. I know I had Colorful Tabs as an add-on.
