Title: "vboxdrv TSC mode is Invariant"
Post by: JohnD on April 29, 2018, 05:27:33 PM
Since an update I can not use Lite.

First I've got an error message: rc.local[1683]: xset: unable to open display ""

Now I got this:

Code: [Select]
vboxdrv TSC mode is Invariant
After about three other lines on vbox I got error messages about hd access. fsck says all file systems are ok.

Since weeks I'm using Linux Mint.

Hi there,

This seems to be related to the updating of VirtualBox modules, see thread below.
You have to put certain modules on hold to prevent updating.
https://www.linuxliteos.com/forums/security-bug-fixes/major-update-bug-3-8-fresh-install-(64bit)-vmware-reproducable/msg39952/#msg39952 (https://www.linuxliteos.com/forums/security-bug-fixes/major-update-bug-3-8-fresh-install-(64bit)-vmware-reproducable/msg39952/#msg39952)
Hope this helps!

Cheers!

The only way I can start Linux Lite was to choose in the GRUB menu "upstart". I'm not sure what it does, but so I have had the chance to login and work at the terminal.

I've made an upgrade, because I hoped, that the virtualbox prblem will be fixed bey the new upgrade. No succes.

Now, if I try to start Lite in the normal way I get UFW messages. The following is not from my computer, I've copied it from WWW to show the format of the messages:

Feb  4 23:33:37 hostname kernel: [ 3529.289825] [UFW BLOCK] IN=eth0 OUT= MAC=00:11:22:33:44:55:66:77:88:99:aa:bb:cc:dd SRC=444.333.222.111 DST=111.222.333.444 LEN=103 TOS=0x00 PREC=0x00 TTL=52 ID=0 DF PROTO=UDP SPT=53 DPT=36427 LEN=83

Such messages are comming up to the screen without end.
