I got a irritating problem. When typing my cursor jumps for no reason at all to another place in the text sometimes. This is making a mess of what i am typing. I thought it was a problem wih=th previous laptop but the new one has the same. It doesnt do it all the time. Anyone any idea were to look for an answer to the problem?

Sometimes is a simple as brushing against the 'mouse/track pad'.. Disabling the pad especially if using an external mouse would help. Some laptops (hp's) have in upper left corner a light that if double tapped in this corner will illuminate, informing the pad has been disabled.
In the mouse settings I believe there is an option.. something like "disable when usb connected"...
Might be the easy spot to start...

I have to agree with firenice - I get this happening when I forget to disable the trackpad!

I too have this problem on every laptop which has a trackpad. I seem to remember that disabling the pad did not stop the problem, but I will now make a point of double checking because it is annoying when the cursor jumps elsewhere!

I have the trackpad disabled but that doesnt stop it from happening.Funny thing is that i dont have it on windows 10 (laptop is dual boot)

Typing where? In terminal? Writer? Mousepad? Browser? All and every app that supports text input?

In browser, text documents, writer, in everything were you can enter text. Happens completely at random, sometimes notting and other times i am more busy correcting the text due to the jumping cursor then anything else.

Oh well that's annoying indeed...While googling on touch/trackpad issues on Linux, I found that several ones have been reported on this matter under Ubuntu 18.04 which is the one LL 4.2 is based upon. I found this article https://sangams.com.np/fix-ubuntu-18-4-touchpad-not-working-properly/ and I don't know if it will help you resolving your issue but it might worth trying.
Hope this helps! :)

I did read the article and the packages are installed. What i did do was check the box to disable touchpad while typing, that was not enbaled before.

Too early to say, but so far so good. Only thing is that you cant dusable it longer then 4 seconds during typing.

Can anyone help this is still a question

Something else I have done, is in setting you can disable the keypad for X seconds while typing, this way if it is caused by slightly brushing against the touchpad, the cursor is unaffected.
Moving the cursor is delayed for X seconds... I set mine for 2 seconds...
Might be worth a try to see if its operator vs. operating system :)
