Title: Sys Info not showing Battery
Post by: Acdane on September 16, 2017, 11:29:23 AM
I  am able to see my batter with a panel icon but the system info does not see it. It is a replacement battery for Dell xps m1210. I ahve LL 3.6.  The battery  consequently is not operative. Any ideas to fix this?

Thanks
Ann

Hi,

Does the battery charge when computer is off but plugged in? If not, could be you need to buy an "official" DELL battery, but...
Does the battery LED light flashes? If is flashes, there could be a problem with battery, charging unit or motherboard. Stable/ slow-glowing battery light is usually ok though.

Cheers!

Some battery replacements on some laps must be setup from the BIOS, using hardware detection. Leave your new battery in place, and reset the BIOS to factory defaults. As it begins the I/O read prior to boot it should detect the battery LV on the board if it is good. Don't forget to reset your cmos clock after defaulting.

Try trinidad's trick first Acdane, maybe I was way off course (also in the other thread).

It's so cool being in the Linux Lite Forums ;)) It's usually me that teaches others but I'm learning new stuff again from tinidad!
If this keeps up, I'll have to sign up to the trinidad fan club and become a groupie! ;)
