PCMCIA USB 2.0 Cards & Linux Lite

Hello!

Happy to help. I tried this on a Sony VAIO laptop I have, and Plop wouldn't see the card in the one PCMCIA port it has.

Since it only worked in the bottom slot on the Dell, I'm thinking it's looking for it at slot 1 (or slot 2, if the top slot is 1). I may have to look at the code to see if I can 'tweak' it to recognize the card in any PCMCIA slot.

I THINK the Sony MAY use USB 2.0 already; it just won't boot from USB in the BIOS. Basically, all it's going to be is a 'print server' for a LaserJet 3100. It HAS to run on XP because the Vista/7/8/8.1 kernel won't support the 3100's software. Nonetheless, it's set up as an XP/W7/LL triple-booter...

Well how about that....

Need some salt and pepper with that crow? or do you prefer catsup? LOL

That's great news, now we should be able to help anyone that has a similar problem...... cool

Hello!

What can I say? No better way to get to 500 posts than by eating some crow!

I followed the instructions on the Plop website to create an ISO that supports PCMCIA, burned it to CD, and used it to boot from a flash drive inserted into the adapter. If you have two CardBus slots, if one slot won't work, try the other one...

Hey, No apologies allowed on a forum setting.  ;)

I am interested to know myself if this is possible.
I have other commits going on next week though with AntiX and a Game I am helping another
Linux member I know tweak so I can make a quick .deb of the game.

It is a oldy goldy type of game that weighs in at 36K so I do not think anyone else may be interested.
Just a mental exercise mainly for me. I was only responder to his thread and uploaded tar.gz.

I intro'd as a thick skinned linux using biker. So short of cursing, dissing me, or calling me out.
I am a pretty laid back kinda dude with a sense of humor.
I can come across as a crude, rude, dude in a forum setting sometimes.
I blame it on the biker in me though.

So do not pay attention to me because if anybody ends up apologizing.
It will probably be ME.  ::)

Happy Trails and Sorry Bro, Rok
