Hello!

I will have to check this out, but it's looking like I owe you an apology...

N4RPS:
Hello!

No, Plop will not boot a USB drive from PCMCIA/CardBus, but will read a USB flash drive after it boots from another drive plugged into a USB 1.1 port. I mainly use this adapter to back the PC up onto a USB 3.0 external HD, which will not work with USB 1.1 ports.

At one time, I had an HP USB 2.0 PCMCIA around here. If I can find it again, I'll test it. I am not where the other adapter is at the moment, so will have to edit this to add who makes it to the post later...

I run usb 2.0 + firewire + mini-firewire combo pcmcia cards on my older laptops like a Panasonic CF-48 and IBM T23.
I run Liqourix kernels on a different distro other than Linux-Lite on those laptops.
Bios won't boot off pcmcia period, unless you change the bootloader on mbr of hard drive to a pcmcia type of bootloader
like PLOP or Smart Boot Manager. I am not hip on which includes pcmcia boot options.

On mine. The kernel recognizes all firewire and usb ports though after a bootup. I have some old lspci reports showing this
to be true on the net.

That readout is from 2012 on my IBM A22M I sold (for a pretty penny I might add).

edit: I can't really give you the make of the card as it is a cheapo chinese generic pcmcia combo card
I purchased 2 of them from ebay years ago at $3.99 a card, free shipping.
There is no name on these cards.
Exact Image.
