Windows and Linux are 2 completely different operating systems that function quite differently from each other, you will find over time that there are things that work better on windows than linux, and things that work better on linux than windows. The clear, distinctive difference is the security linux gives you, case in point - the latest shellshock vulnerability in linux was patched in a day, on MS you would have to wait until 'Patch Tuesday' before your computer was secure. Now if the vulnerability was let loose on a Wednesday, that's an awful long time for you to wait for a fix.

Thank you for informing me.  I suspected as much and accept what you say.  One comment if I may though.  This very same PC had windows XP Home installed and on this the same webcam used with skype worked perfectly.  Could it be that the architecture of the motherboard with Ubuntu 14 is heavier on resources than Win XP?

You have a very low end graphics chip (SiS) I suspect it is the cause of the poor video quality. The cpu is fairly ancient to. Your webcam on a more modern system would work much better.

Hello Everyone.  This is my first posting and I hope its in the crrect section.  I have installed Linux Lite to replace Win XP and am impressed.  I've installed Skype and the only problem I have is with my Logitech c200 webcam.  The video is "intermittent" and blue in colour when an image appears for short duration.  Is this common with this combination of webcam/Ubuntu 14 that LL is based on?  If there is a solution, please let me know and thanking you in advance.
