Keyboard 10 key not working

(1/3) > >>

smhardesty:

I just found that the 10 key on my keyboard isn't working after I installed Lite 4.8. I've rebooted, then shut down and restarted, but to no avail. Anybody have any thoughts?

Jerry:
You have a 10 key?

smhardesty:
All modern keyboards have a 10 key on them, don't they? This quote was taken directly from Wikipedia.

--- Quote ---A numeric keypad, number pad, numpad, or ten key, is the palm-sized, 17-key section of a standard computer keyboard, usually on the far right. It provides calculator-style efficiency for entering numbers. The idea of a 10-key number pad cluster was originally introduced by Tadao Kashio, the developer of Casio electronic calculators.
--- End quote ---

And this is the image that Wikipedia has on that page. Modern keyboards have 17 keys instead of the actual 10 key that they originally had.

Jerry:
So you mean a numeric key pad. Your post reads like there's an actual no. 10 on a key. If that's the case, does the keypad work with other operating systems? Try it with a live ISO of another OS. Cheers.

DeepThought:
Has your number pad ever worked or is it just after this new install ?
If not did you select the correct keyboard layout ?
try changing your keyboard layout:

Menu - settings - Keyboard
Click on the Layout tab and untick the Use system defaults box
Under the Keyboard model is a drop down box with various keyboard layouts, see if your keyboard model is there.
Close and test your number pad.
Might take a few trials before you find the correct one for your keyboard.

Hope this helps :)
