Title: Get Messages From Phone
Post by: lc6529 on July 04, 2020, 09:44:19 AM
Just wondering if there is any software out there to Linux Lite to a droid so you can receive/send text messages.  My work environment is such that I have to keep my phone sound/vibrate off so I miss messages but if I could connect Linux to get a notification and reply to texts that would be great.

Hi,
So far I could find two option

1: Try KDEConnect (https://vitux.com/how-to-see-android-notifications-on-the-ubuntu-desktop/)2: Try scrcpy (https://github.com/Genymobile/scrcpy)
I never tried KDEConnect and scrcpy lets you control your phones screen from the desktop. but I don't know about notifications.

I tried KDE Connect before and tried it again using the instructions at the link you found (thank you), unfortunately one of the steps in this command [sudo apt install kdeconnect indicator-kdeconnect] failed.   I wish I had thought to screenshot the error but I was hosting a party while tinkering with this and when it failed I used package manager to remove all traces of KDECONNECT.   I guess I will just let this go.
