  • CPU: Intel Core i5-4460

  • MEMORY: 16Gb

  • Kernel: 5.x
You haven't provided the detail but error 71 in USB could be the a general protocol error which indicates some kind of communication problem between the host and the device.  Could be caused by several things.  You need first to eliminate the hardware by swapping.

Try a different mouse in your Lenovo.
Try the suspect mouse in another computer.
Test the Lenovo USB port using a different USB device.

For a suspected hardware fault, the usual approach is to try swapping hardware where you can if you have spares..

Assuming it is a USB connection, does the laptop recognise a different USB device (e.g a memory stick) if you plug it in instead of the mouse ?

Does the mouse work if plugged into a different machine ?

If it is an optical mouse, does the LED on the underneath glow ?

Dear Sir/Madam,

I have problem on reinstalling Linux Lite on Lenovo T400, unfortunately my external mouse is not working the reason I do not know, whereas it was ok at my previous laptop Dell Latitude 6420 which has damaged totally. I shell appreciate if any body can guide me to solve this problem.
