For a suspected hardware fault, the usual approach is to try swapping hardware where you can if you have spares..

Assuming it is a USB connection, does the laptop recognise a different USB device (e.g a memory stick) if you plug it in instead of the mouse ?

Does the mouse work if plugged into a different machine ?

If it is an optical mouse, does the LED on the underneath glow ?

Muhammad Umar Farooq:
Dear Sir/Madam,

Thanks to all for repelling but I would like to add more history towards external mouse and I noticed further when i start my laptop i noticed error 071 which i do not and when i plug mouse usb there message display mouse detected twice and mouse light blink and remain ineffective. some time it work continuously and if i try to plug again it become ineffective. Please guide me if it may be resolved.

Thanks and regards,

You haven't provided the detail but error 71 in USB could be the a general protocol error which indicates some kind of communication problem between the host and the device.  Could be caused by several things.  You need first to eliminate the hardware by swapping.

Try a different mouse in your Lenovo.
Try the suspect mouse in another computer.
Test the Lenovo USB port using a different USB device.
