[SOLVED] Resolving Erratic Touchpad Operation

(1/1)

N4RPS:
Hello!

Now you know why I post on here ANYTHING in LL I have had to 'figure out' - for the next time *I* need it...

N4RPS:
Hello!

I went back in and edited the the extra code tag out.

Nice to know that those code tags can be 'reined in'. They just kept popping up in there all by themselves!

It was a long evening last night/this morning. NOT running an MD5 check on the ISO I downloaded to begin with made it a whole lot longer!

I'll pay more attention to my posts in the future, and use the HTML tags to specify commands to be entered properly...

A reminder, when posting things using the code tags, you only need to use them once. When you add a post there is a small icon that says Toggle View on the far right, This will help you better create posts more cleanly.

N4RPS:
Hello, All!

When installing LL on my Samsung laptop, I noticed that the touchpad jumped all over the place.

I stumbled on a fix elsewhere which was rather hard to find, so thought I'd put it here, also. Here's what you do:

1. Open a terminal window with [CTRL-ALT-T]. Type or cut-and-paste this line:

--- Code: ---sudo leafpad /etc/modprobe.d/options.conf
--- End code ---

2. In the text editor, type or cut-and-paste the line below:

--- Code: ---options psmouse proto=imps
--- End code ---

3. Save the newly-created file and close Notepad.

6. Go back to the terminal window and type or cut-and-paste the following:

--- Code: ---sudo modprobe -r psmouse && sudo modprobe psmouse
--- End code ---

Your touchpad should now work properly!

Hope this helps...
