@v-grimalkin ,
This forum is better than Linux Mint's.  The Help Manual is better, too.  Not hating.  Just pointing out things I've noticed between the two distros.

I've been using Linux Mint Cinnamon for approx. 3 years, although I still don't know how to do much other than browse and read.  My 17.3 Rosa has reached the end, so I am looking for another os that will work on my aging Acer Aspire One, which came with Windows 7.\

I have been reading posts here on the forum, and I still haven't decided if L-L 4.4 is the one to choose, but once I get a few important questions answered, I may take the plunge.  ::)

My friend Amy, 13 years old, uses Linux Lite on her old laptop and loves it's speed and simplicity.  It has kept her trusty old hand-me-down lappy out of the landfill for almost a year now.  She might be bringing her mom and dad to Linux (and Linux Lite in particular) as well.

Jerry,

I switched my wife's desktop to Linux over 10 years ago. A while back (geez, 3 years or so now?) I bought us both new Lenovo laptops. I immediately installed Linux on both. My wife has used nothing but Linux at home for those over 10 years, but she still works part time as a bookkeeper and is forced to use Windows at work. She is currently using Windows 10 and I hear "not so nice" comments about it on a regular basis from her.

A funny side note on that. Many years ago while I was still doing quite a bit of computer work, I had completely reloaded one of her desktop PCs that had "crashed & burned" running whatever version of Windows was current then. I told her that if she could convince her boss, I would load Linux on the thing and solve the whole "crash & burn" problem. Her boss is NOWHERE near computer literate, but they used a local accounting firm to do the taxes for the business. The boss told my wife to discuss it with the CPA assigned to the business. She did and came home to tell me that there was no way they would allow Linux to be installed on any computer in a business they filed taxes for. His reason? Linux was way too new and completely unstable. There is NO support for Linux. And finally, Linux only works on a few, selected PCs. Windows was a MUCH more secure and stable operating system and had none of the hardware issues or other problems associated with such a new OS. The REAL funny thing? This would have been around 2009 - 2010.
Steve

My partner has been using Lite for three years now. She was using a Mac that had a video failure and the quote to fix it was more than the cost of a brand new Lenovo laptop. I bought it for her, formated the drive and installed Lite 2.6 as the only operating system. She had very little difficulty transitioning and has no interest going back to Apple. We're planning to upgrade to an ssd and install Lite 4.2 in the next 30 days.

@kissbaby3 enjoy your new found fame!

I've posted your latest video (Webcamoid) on our Social Media pages.

Perhaps this is a good time to ask, how many men here have female relatives, partners or wives that use Linux full time now? How many women already using Linux have brought female friends over to Linux?

Merry Christmas !.
