Title: What does the prompt with the white number and orange background represent
Post by: noweare on January 14, 2020, 08:52:03 PM
Hey guys & gals,
I have not been using linux lite long but I am learning alot.  One thing that I have not figured out is the numbers that as part of the prompt.
I know that there can be multiple bash sessions going on in the background but I haven't figured what this means.
Any help is appreciated.
Joe

Hi. I'm new here myself. The bash prompt you're seeing is definitely specific to Linux Lite. It looks like the number with the orange background represents the number of background processes running that are attached to your terminal. If you run "xterm &", for example, you get an increase of "1" until you close the xterm.
