Title: performance slow
Post by: jpbot on March 25, 2019, 07:49:52 AM
hi ,i'm new to Linux. I've installed lite cause my machine is an older laptop.
I've noticed after a reboot everything works great but eventually everything slows down over time.
for instance after reboot i can watch a movie without hassles,but if i do other stuff for awhile and THEN want to watch a movie it doesn't play properly,i have to reboot then it'll play fine again.
i'm thinking its a hardware issue?not sure cause before had Win7 on an never had a problem.
is there maybe any settings i'm missing somewhere?

@jpbot ,

If your profile is correct, you're running a 32 bit version of Linux Lite 3.8 on a PC with 2 GB of memory (RAM).  Your issue could be memory related.  The reboot clears the memory.  Perhaps using some of the options in Lite Tweaks could help.  Run the ones listed as Safe and see if that helps.  If my guess is correct, I think running those tweaks (especially zRAM) will improve the use of memory on your computer.

Lite Tweaks can be found under Menu, Settings, Lite Tweaks.

what do you mean by "run" the safe ones ? i have done it before (only checking the boxes and begin),it helped for a bit but eventually became slow again.i also thinks it a memory problem.
what i don't understand why the memory wasn't a problem on win7 OS? isn't LL a smaller lighter OS ?
thanks for the reply ,i'm trying it again now ,just not sure what you mean by "run"

@jpbot ,

Select the ones listed as Safe.  There is a column listing Caution, Safe, etc.
