It always displayed correctly previously. I browsed from one thread to another thread on the forum and it changed.
I will manage how it is.

But to be exact (for transparency) -
  • a badge appeared then disappeared to the profile area eg; area shown left of this post
  • when browsing the main forum page it then showed me the staff areas of the forum
  • it did not mention they were staff areas, I thought they were newly added forum pages, if it had said they were staff areas I would not have read them.
  • so I read that. For your confirmation one area shown was named "Developers Corner", but the logs will show this anyhow.
  • after I had read these areas it told me it was staff only in a white popup box, it done this as I was going to write a reply.
  • As I then knew it was staff only areas I browsed back to the main forum page.
  • Where I noticed that the forum banner had disappeared
  • on browsing to other pages I noticed the banner had also disappeared
  • the banner has never worked since that day (October 26th 2018)

The banner and login are not supported at 1024 x 768 res. or below after login. The next res. up 1280 x 720 works fine, so this must be the minimum. Still waiting to hear back from @ian_r_h

I will have to manage how it is.
It always displayed previously.
Is this a new decision in the last 2 weeks ?

What do you mean by a new decision? I have no control over this, I did nothing.

So... maximizing the Firefox window has "enabled" the "show unread posts-" and "show new posts- since last visit" options.

Dragging the window ever-so-slightly width-wise enabled the options - so it looks like there is indeed a minimum browser window size (width) at which the options will display, and below which they do not.
If its close... where you slightly changed the width, you may as work around change the zoom from 100% to 90% (lessen) or 95 for a similar affect.. That is if the font/text is not too small for ones eyes..

Simply maximizing the Firefox window creates the following:

OK, screenshot of Firefox at the (I think default) window size - i.e., not maximized, with HTTPS Everywhere enabled and NoScript in the usual configuration when I use the site:

ipcheck.info lists the browser window (inner size): 1025 x 602 pixels (inner size)
and lists the usable screen: 1920 x 1049 pixels (does not match screen)
and screen size as: 1920 x 1080 pixels 24 bit color depth
Don't worry about artificial intelligence.  Worry about natural stupidity.  :)

I haven't changed the browser size, unless an update of Firefox done this.
Checking the maximize button it is already maximized.
Checking the zoom setting it is set at 100%.Setting to full screen with no window label at the top, produces the same result.
Screen resolution is 1024x768, as it is the maximum the driver can do as it is not supported with hardware headers. This was always the case, including when the banner appeared as it should.
I was browsing the forum, and as I changed thread this occurred, also the favicon changed from the current one to the old Favicon of the grey feather in the bookmarks.
I noticed this as when I used systemback to get back to LL3.2 from LL3.0 , and using the bookmark to visit the forum it was the new Favicon, after I logged in it changed to the old Favicon in the bookmarks.I tried various things like log out make a new bookmark, which is the new favicon, each time I login it changed to the old Favicon again .
I am unsure if it is related to the banner and screen size.

I have see that when my browser is not full screen or enlarged enough - maybe check sizing/zoom/resolution or the alike???.. .  :o :o
The frames resize and fit within and without side scrolling, but top goes blank.

That is correct. If you drag your browser below a certain frame size, that info will disappear.

Ian and bits, can you please post screenshots pointing out the issues. Thank you. Ian - please disable all of your Add-Ons to see if that fixes your problem.

Hi, Jerry,

Not sure if it's what you have in mind, but since my monthly update at the end of last month (2018 Oct 19 1247 UTC) I'm only seeing the "logout" option on the forums page - so not also the usual read posts you've commented on and new posts since last log-in.

Current Firefox version is: 62.0.3 (64-bit)
Firefox add-ons installed are:  HTTPS Everywhere (up-to-date as of this morning) and NoScript (up-to-date as of this morning).  Javascript is, of course, temporarily enabled; as are cookies.  I can log in and out normally.
Current OS is:  LL3.8 [Linux linux02 4.4.0-138-generic #164-Ubuntu SMP Tue Oct 2 17:16:02 UTC 2018 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux]

Ian

Same issue here.
No changes to default Firefox 63.0.
Visible are "Logout" in grey on left, red icon on right; mouse over shows "Shrink or expand the header"
No navigation visible.

It is also the same on Opera web browser.

Banner appears correctly before login in either browser.
