Title: Linux Lite at your place
Post by: Jerry on February 03, 2015, 03:42:30 PM
I'll kick this off with a photo of Linux Lite in action at my place. Would like to see how you folks have your Linux Lite workstations set up :)

(Please keep it 'child friendly' with your wallpapers etc)

Just a 60 inch non smart TV altman. USB port on TV is only good for displaying photos.

Wow, clean and tidy setup Jerry! Mine is sort of messy, and tight for space, but might post a pic of it here soon. Out of curiosity, do you still have your HP ProBook laptop?

I actually sold the Probook this week, I'm probably going to build a desktop machine now that we are providing kernels. I'm going to need some horsepower.

Hi Jerry,

If space is at a premium.?
I have been really impressed with my Barebones Shuttle XH97
http://www.shuttle.eu/products/slim/xh97v/overview/ (http://www.shuttle.eu/products/slim/xh97v/overview/)

I have fitted a i7-4790T(Low Power Usage CPU, but amazing bench marks, but costly)
I have fitted 16GB Mem (SODIMM Size)
Samsung 840 128GB mSATA & Western Digital Black 500GB (2.5")

The only mod I have made is to replace the funky heatpipe cooler it had with a
Noctua LH-9i, it runs 5/6C cooler, with CPU at solid 50% usage, it sits at @ 57C
(need to remove mobo though to fit the Noctua)
This PC will probably outlive me now...

I was that impressed with the quality, I now have a Shuttle DS87, size of 3 DVD's.

Space is not an issue, what I need is horsepower without breaking the bank. The case can go under the desk on a shelf.

Dell Dimension 5100C Desktop. Use it as a music jukebox as it is hooked up to my Harman/Kardon receiver via a 5.1 S/PDIF Optical Digital Connection. Sound quality is still top notch, despite the fact that this particular model of receiver is over 10 years old! [First sold in March 2002, according to Amazon, discontinued now.]
