Yup, a lot of reviewers do that, attributing properties (good or bad) to a distro that are upstream issues. The Xfce desktop in our beloved Linux Lite is highly customized, though. I don't think Jerry's customizations are the cause of any problems though. The jump from GTK 2 to GTK 3 brought some issues with Xfce for some people. But one of the coolest things about the Xfce mixture used in Linux Lite is the naming of applications by function rather than sticking with some of those weird "Linuxey" names for apps like the file manager and such. "Thunar? What's that? Will I blow something up if I click on that? What does it do anyway?" There are no big questions like that in Linux Lite. Another reason to love this distro!

Hi! :)

I enjoyed reading the article!
I have one objection, though:

Quote
[...]When I right-clicked to remove a launcher from the panel, this action caused the entire panel to crash. After bringing back up the Xfce panel, I was able to right-click, go through panel preferences, and then to the items tab to remove and add launchers.[...]

This has nothing to do with Linux Lite. I've been using Linux Mint for 5 years straight and had many issues with the "Panel" class. After moving to Linux Lite, they are still there. It seems that the XFCE team knows about that (see the bugs reports) but since XFCE it's constantly under development, it takes time to put together the various changes. I presume that moving to GTK 3.x means more than cosmetic changes so this issue, might take time to fix. There are some other issues, beside the mentioned crash: the dissapearance of some app handlers (taskbar buttons) from the panel. The workaround is easy, (hover the "Minimize all" button) but the fact is still annoying...
Another issue, is the way it displays the "Tray icons". The applets work "strange", to say the least.
I found out some workarounds provided by Jerry in some posts and I found one solution myself, but the issue, is still there and requires some digging to solve.
So, again, the Launcher issue, comes from XFCE. Linux Lite works fine, even with those.
From my perspective, the Launcher issue, disappeared long ago, I guess since Linux Lite 5.2 or so. It is also possible that the issue re-appears under certain conditions. Certain conditions, meaning: user specific apps installed. Some apps, conflict somehow with XFCE and this might trigger unexpected regressions.
However, even with those XFCE issues, Linux Lite works great. Anyway, I'm sure Jerry knows all those, since we have a tool in Lite Tweaks to restore the Taskbar (which is in fact Panel 1).

Best regards! :)

Wo! Already? Wonder if we'll ever be Top 10? I never had any expectation we'd even get to 20.

Thanks, I need to look into how it's reading memory. Good that the smart ones in the community didn't jump to any unnecessary conclusions.
