Newer ones support newer hardware, or have been updated to better support. Older ones sometimes work better with older hardware,,, sometimes...

The incremental updates typically patches or fix something that may not work 100% right...

If 4.15 is working great, 5.1 could work same, better or not at all... Will all depend on hardware, or atleast alot of the time...
So CPU, chipsets, wifi, bluetooth, mouse etc...

You can always install and try it... But know how to get back..
   Have a backup
If it doent work, you can revert to another using advanced on boot...

For 4.15.19 or 4.15.39 are incremental, the old ones are ok to remove. I like to keep a version or 2 around just in case...

XD LOL, understood, I won't install them.   ...but then why do they exist? And how come they download and install with the regular LL updates after a certain (loong) time?
Pathological tweaker.

Hello, guys.

I like to run the -applicable- Lite Tweaks options from time to time. I try not to mess much with the "Kernel Installer" section, though, but I delete whatever older versions are left there.  Today I ventured into the "Kernel installer" area and noticed there are quite a few of them (newer) available. Thus my question, do you guys recommend go for the newer kernels? ...Yes? ...No? ...and Why? I tried a quick search on the forums but those existing questions were asking whether to delete older kernels or not.

You can read this thread.. https://www.linuxliteos.com/forums/linux-lite-software-development/linux-lite-kernel/msg46996/#msg46996
But here is the best info
'If it ain't broke...' If you don't need this kernel for a specific reason, don't install it!
