The only thing I regret now, is that I waitet all the way until windows XP EOL before seriously switched to Linux. Wish I had done that before.

I think the first distro I installed on bare metal must have being Mint Debian edition, around 2014.

I had installed Ubuntu on Virtualbox before that, and I also have used Gparted live-cd way before that.

The only thing I regret now, is that I waitet all the way until windows XP EOL before seriously switched to Linux. Wish I had done that before.
I won't let an old, but fully functional computer die just because some company tell me that they won't make no more security updates to their OS. Thanks Linux :)

Mine was also Ubuntu (12.04) but I couldn't get the graphic card to work properly.  I saw a good review about LL2.2 and made the switch.  I had a Win7/LL dual-boot setup for a while 'till I made a mistake and deleted Windows while re-sizing partitions.  I don't miss it.

My first linux distro was ubuntu 14.04 or 16.04, but it was too easy to use (no options to do my basic jobs like setting up encryption, modifying panels without terminal. Just aplications). I also noticed that it was unstable, but now I know that it felt unstable just because I ran it on broken computer. Linux lite is more complex. Easy to use but I can't for an example show almost anything (GUI) in one screenshot.

Jerry is the 'creator of Linux Lite  Which is the most difficult part of everything especially creating an operating system.
After that huge task having the dedication and expertise to be the lead developer and the team of developers that
accomplish the end result of maintaining security updates, Bug fixes and other software problems.
To develop a 'stable OS is a huge accomplishment. The greater accomplishment is keeping the OS 'Stable.

at the time i just started using windows XP home.
then a person at the last place i worked started talking about  linux stuff, i asked a few questions, so i went to the internet and seen there was all kinds , so when i had a second pc laying around (a dell dimension 2400) , i then tried PCLinux os, scientific linux, and a couple others i cant remember.

then my husbands dad gave me a windows 7 PC, and then i grabbed that (at the time) free upgrade to windows 10 home, windows 10 was ok and all, but what a major head ache it was , soooooooo i went to Fry's and purchased a brand new PC, then turned my windows 7/10 pc into a LINUX LITE 3.6, ha ha , i was happy ever since ,  8) 8) .

then later i turned my brand now PC into a LINUX LITE 4.0 now 4.4 , now have had NO windows PC in the house for year or more , or give or take a few , i'm having a hot flash, still waking up hear on one cup of coffee, sorry folks, lol.

well thats my sleepy story hugs, i love linux...... hugs !  :-* :-* :-*  .

oh i for got something, i want to say thank you to the whole linux team for all their time and hard work and dedication to "Linux Lite", also on youtube i want to say thank you to "sneekylinux" , it was his encouragement, help and advice over  the course of time   that help me ditch windows all together ...... hugs every one .

if you want his channel link just ask, he is truly helpful to all the newbies and experienced linux users, his youtube channel is really cool.

My Windows XP had a virus and I took it to Staples to have them clean it. The guy who did it asked if I'd ever heard of Linux. Nope. He said to check Distrowatch.com. I did and then I went to the library and found Mepis. I started with it and then went to PCLinuxOS. Then tried Ubuntu and settled in on Mint for a bit. I kept trying other distros then found Lite.

Thx Jerry and the crew
I still check out other distros but they wind up getting compared to LL. Thanks for the simplicity and the care y'all put into it. LL it is.

It is the philosophy behind LL that is the key.- Linux newbie oriented.  Oh, I do wish it had been based on Debian though; we might still have a 32bit LL into the future :(
Jerry, re you "being humble".  As one that has absolutely no idea what goes on under the bonnet of LL- it is us poor mortals who should be humble!! :)  Kiwi power!

It isn't just Jerry all by himself, though.  He leads a team that has created this beautiful masterpiece and model of simplicity.  I think it's only right that we acknowledge their contributions and extend our gratitude to them as well.
