A more neutral way of posing your question would have been to say why do so many OS enthusiasts think they're so elite?

The guy that was talking about Android having a lot of security holes, said that GNU/Linux (like Ubuntu) is good only for web browsing, until you get a malware on it...  :o I think he got confused with Windows...

Anyway... my friend is planning to get a new PC, and he said he will get GNU/Linux instead of Windows and their spying and all.

I wanna see for how long he will stay with this. I recommended him Linux Lite, since it's excellent for beginners  ;)

I just don't know if it is good choice for new GPUs like GTX 960? Doesn't it need newer kernel like 3.16 or 3.19?

I mod and am the red headed step child linux user at a Windows and Mac Forum.

Every once in a while I get a , "that's my 2 cents" response from a Linux hater.

I just look at it as a scooter tramp that lives on the Mexican border.
Just because I picked up Tex-Mex Slang and can drive a Jocky Shift motorcycle with kick start only and you cannot. Does not make what I do any less better or make you any better than I.

Then I just put them on my ignore list. I do not put up in real life with vitrol and hate.
So why put up with it online.
PS. I know of some respected skilled linux user posts that also are hard to take without
a grain of salt. They probably think the same about me.

Just answering

What's wrong with all those Windows users saying GNU/Linux is only good for web browsing?

Every time I enter some operating system article's discussion, and someone says something good about GNU/Linux, Windows users downvote him to hell, and say garbage like "Linux is good only for web browsing, and it has many security holes, look at Google's Android which is Linux too! So many security holes! Windows blah blah blah".

Seriously... Comparing Android to systems like Ubuntu, Fedora, Mageia, Arch, Linux Lite? So much ignorance.

English / worldwide websites are better towards GNU/Linux. But people in my Europe country are like Windows brainwashed. If 1 individual say something good about it, he will instantly get downvoted rapidly.

I'm using GNU/Linux since February only, but I feel free, I can do anything to my system, and on it. If I want to use some Win software, I can use Wine. And it's not the GNU/Linux's problem that devs are not releasing as many games for Linux as for Windows.
