Yes, probably will never make it out of a lab....
Like the decades of research into "Organic" based memory/storage, nothing really viable at present...

IBM have some new interesting memory stuff that possibly will make it out of the lab Phase Change Memory

Looks to only be a proof of concept at this point. It will be a pretty incredible step forward if they can get to the point of manufacturing.

@nomko,
When you cool "certain" materials to extremely low temperatures,
"strange" things happen as discovered by one of your country men :) Heike Kamerlingh Onnes

  • CPU: Intel Core i7

  • MEMORY: 16Gb

  • VIDEO CARD: Intel 4th. Gen. integr. GPU/Nvidia GeForce GTX860M
This is supper chilled memory, -196C

Will this kind of very low temperatures has it's on effect on how the memory works? I mean, it is so low that you basically freezing the memory in such way that even the memory won't work properly? The lower the temperature, the higher the resistance of the semiconductors?
My laptop:
MSI GE70-2PE*Quad core Intel Core i7-4710HQ*Kingston 16 GB RAM*Intel 4th Gen. Integr. GPU/NVidia GeForce GTX860M*Qualcomm Atheros Killer E2200/Intel Wireless 3160
