To prevent intrusive ads, popups and banners, I suggest the uBlock Origin extension in FireFox and Chrome.
Don't forget to add Linux Lite to the "white list" (exclusions) though... that would be baaaad! ;)

Cheers!

Windows free since 2014.  LL  1.08  saved me from VISTA.  Thanks to this forum, never looked back. :)
Had been using Open Office, Thunderbird, Firefox, Skype. Gimp etc on Windows, so the change was not that much of a shock ( eventually :) )

Windows-free for more than 4 years now!  The OS stays the heck out of my way and lets me get work done.  I'm master of my computer, not the other way around.  The freedom is awesome!

I was actually fuming when I started this thread.

I returned home from work that day and wanted to order a tool from Amazon to fix my car. I decided to use my All in One because it was booted up, and the easiest one to get to.

I opened Firefox and went to Amazon, and the page was loading at a tortoise pace, due to all the advertisements wanting to run, and then I get the unresponsive script  message and click stop script and get the message again. Umm ok, so I reboot and get "don't turn pc off because it's working on updates" (for a half hour). While that was going on Malwarebytes AV was doing a full scheduled scan, so that was slowing things down once the updates were installed. I said screw this thing, and got on my Linux Lite machine and had the tool ordered in a few minutes.

Granted, I know there things I can do to prevent the above from happening, but I'd rather just be done with it.

I even threw away the old W7 disks. Not going back. Ever.
My only problem will be when legacy boot fails me, since that is all I have.
Glad to see the success stories. Congratulations to all.

Also just chipping in to say that I'm also now 100% Linux Lite, save for keeping the old Windows 7 and 10 boxes running (but not update), till I get my archives backed up.  8)

I was fed up with Win10 a while back. But I'm also fed up with a series of HP All-in-one Office Jet Pro's on Windows. They have no drivers for Windows Server so... you can't use them other then in remote dektop. Support from the Linux community should be better then HP themselves. Also, installing a printer for (really) 30 minutes from the DVD on a new computer is ridiculous.

LLLL! (Long Live Linux Lite!) ;)

I started using Linux a little less than a month ago, and I'm very happy that I purchased Linux Lite to get me started.

With what I've learned about Linux since I started using it, I almost have the machine I'm using setup to my liking. Once I get my printer working with this machine, I'll probably dis-connect my HP All in One windows 8.1 machine, put it into storage and save as a backup, and go forward using a different machine with a Linux Lite OS, because I think I'm about done with Windows based OS's.

This is a screenshot of my current desktop, and getting to the point I'm at was much easier than I expected a month ago...
