For Linux Lite 3.4 - I couldn't get any of the torrent hashes to match.

FILENAME: linux-lite-3.4-32bit.iso.torrent
TORRENT HASH: 733d2c4108f786f4a3dec66c1f0d2625f045c21d

I tried md5sum, sha1sum, and sha256sum

These are the results I got.
md5sum:  faec8e92d47869f293a513970d7d70a0
sha1sum:  f16361a2547afa665defeadf1e8a09947332c3b5
sha256sum:  c121325b0f6c6a221bff34ab4394a0f9dcf476feb189a03b04434d999a4cc4fb

FILENAME:  linux-lite-3.4-64bit.iso.torrent
TORRENT HASH: a683e4157c3f6f2adab5a15b23bb1f4425c91d84

These are the results I got.
md5sum:  0c6a18d06696e48174d4207f4a01e1d1
sha1sum:  6bdf941225857a3e5b7819fd1877c262e233fc0d
sha256sum:  e1e8066358c55053c77a200f37fdadf8ee575166d06d9f1a4380cef32b148b04

What checksum is the torrent supposed to be? md5, sha1, or sha256? ???

I did a direct download from here:  https://sourceforge.net/projects/linuxlite/files/3.4/linux-lite-3.4-64bit.iso/download  Because I only wanted the 64 bit.

linux-lite-3.4-64bit.iso
md5sum:  b38eb27635bbbeb8473cf43713b2593e
MD5SUM: b38eb27635bbbeb8473cf43713b2593e

We have a match with that.

Always use either the LL download page, or our mirrors page:

I am glad your degree did kick in. I won`t use it. I downloaded from LL download page and I definitely agree they should both match although I ran a sophos scan on the files and no corrupted files were detected. To be on the safe side I will probably download another through a mirror.

Did you have someone sending bad data to you. Even with the md5sum matching up I would not use the iso as it may be corrupted. I would be very weary as md5sums can be matched to an iso that has been modified especially with torrent hash not matching up. I would try a direct download or retry the torrent. Lots of things can corrupt hashes so be careful. Sorry my cyber security degree kicking in, my intention is not to scare but to inform.

I am sure it is due to my lack of knowledge but why when doing a download for a fresh install of LL 3.4 64 bit does the torrent hash not match via check sum but the md 5 does?  At least one of the two match.
