  • Linux Lite: 4.8 64bit

  • CPU: Intel Core i5-5300U (-HT-MCP-)

  • MEMORY: 8Gb

  • VIDEO CARD: Intel Broadwell-U Integrated Graphics

  • Kernel: 4.x
Those are good options.

Personally, if my laptop broke today, I'd order a gently used commercial grade laptop over a brand new consumer grade laptop.   You may get more bang for your buck if you're open to used commercial grade options like Dell Latitude (I have an e6430) or IBM/Lenovo Thinkpads (T420).

I can vouch for the Dell Latitude E6- line. I personally have an E6400 without the Nvidia Quadro 160M GPU and it runs fine. I have got it from an airline company that was getting new computers and it gently used. Are the Dell Latitude's commercial only and not sold to the public?

No.  Commercial grade just means business grade / business quality.

Not sure how you crashed and burned as Zareason LTP, as in my opinion they are the best you can buy, but that aside, stick with all Intel HP hardware.
