Do you have any 50mm lenses for any film SLRs? If so, you'd be able to adapt them to a DSLR without having to buy a proper macro lens. And as said before, you don't need an amazing DSLR to get good results. Locally I can find Canon T2i and T3i bodies for ~$150.
