Title: Ryzen 3700X
Post by: supergamer on June 03, 2020, 09:27:24 AM
Is this normal behavior with the newer AMD processors? Just curious as my FX4350 does not show up like this.

You mean having 16 threads?

Yep, and I'm jealous, older processors have 1,2,4 or 6 threads. 8 for Intel i7.

Ahh, sweet 16! ;)

Thanks for the response. My hardware is always old as I build then hold off until I have to get something else. I had just not seen anything give more CPU's like that even though they are threads. I was assuming they were threads but I thought I should just make sure as you know what it is to assume. I am hoping this build lasts as long as the others I have done.

I didn’t even know that such a thing existed.

Yeah... and get ready to be flabergasted!
64 cores / 128 threadshttps://www.amd.com/en/products/cpu/amd-ryzen-threadripper-3990x (https://www.amd.com/en/products/cpu/amd-ryzen-threadripper-3990x)
And thats for a "desktop" CPU. ;)

WOW...
But as Desktops at some point require all that power - the old stuff just wont be able to keep up..
I remember when Dual Core was the hottest - now I'm like Quad for the minimum... In the future, we'll be like remember when PC's were 64 core, I just gotta have 1024 cores or nothing....

They pretty much arrived at maximum frequencies 4-5GHz for clock speeds on current transistor technology. Now is moving to lateral expansion.
It's like us humans, we usually grown up, then... wide ;) ) Just joking.
