Title: Help needed with Arduino Mega 2560
Post by: colin on August 03, 2017, 11:39:33 AM
I have been trying to get my Arduino Mega 2560 board to upload a sketch aka program but each and everytime i try there is a problem.

The selected serial port avrdude: stk500_send(): failed

I have followed the Arduino Mega 2560 and tried everything i can think of and others but so far zilch!

I even opened up the terminal and ran 'dmesg' and although i did manage to find where arduino is mentioned i couldn't understand the output.

Is this a dial out problem and if so how do i resolve it?

Surely there must be some Linux Lite users out there who have tried the arduino boards and came across
similar problems and resolved them. Will you help please.

I couldn't get the Arduino Mega 2560 going no matter what i tried. I even downloaded the software from Arduino.cc/ at least three times but no luck. Then in desperation i uninstalled the official software and downloaded the software from Synaptic and Success at last! Oh happy days lol. ;D

Once i had downloaded the software from Synaptic it was so easy.
Would like to suggest that Arduino folk come and see for themselves just how easy it was and maybe use it in future versions of Arduino.
