Title: Health Tips #3 - Breakfast
Post by: bitsnpcs on January 17, 2015, 09:03:38 PM
Hello,

I have always found eating breakfast (and lunch) to be really difficult, and often skipped these, this is not good, or healthy my doctor told me so many times.

Spheres

I decided to try fruit, at first it didn't work or encourage me to eat breakfast.
I one day tried a couple of grapes, tried it again and it worked okay, I didn't feel sick.
One day there were no grapes so I told myself a cherry tomato is like a bigger grape , this also worked.
I then tried blueberries , this also worked.

They are all spherical in shape, I found this pattern a bit odd.
I put it down to "the breakfast trick" , they were small in size easy to hold and eat whilst making a drink.

Sometimes I failed to eat breakfast using the new method due to not having any of these 3 items available. Likely I chose to forget them so I didn't have to change and eat breakfast.

Organising

I have 7 little dishes.
I began with grapes, initially green seedless ones.
I would have a punnet of these and count out 3 grapes into each bowl, and leave the remainder.
I sometimes ate a few whilst counting them too. :)
I then lined 6 of these up in the fridge and put the first one separate in the fridge.
Each day making the next one separate the evening before.

This worked excellently, it meant I ate breakfast every single day for a month or 2.
I did not eat all 3 grapes at once I ate them at random in the morning whilst making a drink, getting ready etc.
That is, mostly I ate them either whilst standing around or on the move.

After this time I began to eat 3 grapes and sometimes 1 cherry tomato.

I have worked at it increasing decreasing the numbers.

My numbers now in each bowl have been for over 2 years as follows -
7 green seedless grapes
or
5 red seedless grapes
or
3 cherry tomatoes
or
5 blueberries.

Other quantities, fruits of varying shapes, or food types, may work using this method, I have not tried them myself but am interested to hear about this.

Results

It means I eat breakfast almost every day, and feel better for it.
As I don't sit down with them in the bowl all at once in front of me, it works for me.
When I did try sitting down with the bowl of them it didn't work and took me some time to get back on track with it.

Conclusion

If you, a family member or anyone you know, has difficulty eating breakfast, hopefully the method either helps , or gives you some ideas of other things to try.
It would also be good for very busy people as they can take the bowl with them, or a small bag and eat it whilst traveling.
It would also be good for busy parents to ensure their children eat breakfast/can take it with them if needed.

Thoughts from the News

This week I seen on the news about many primary schools (under 11yo children) now have breakfast clubs, for the pupils.
One head teacher said they have noticed the children's behavior has improved in class and a lot of previously disruptive behavior has all but disappeared, the children study more, enjoy learning more, and their grades have improved.
It then went on to state over 40% of primary schools here (UK), now have these breakfast clubs.
The kids go to school 1 hour earlier each day to attend them.

This also make me wonder if bad behavior occurs in workplace colleagues for hunger reasons.

If you guys live closer. I'd make your breakfast. (http://oi43.tinypic.com/287hitv.jpg)

7up soda pop biscuits, with cut up fried enchiladas in a cast iron skillet, with eggs scrambled in a cup , , poured over the enchiladas, and then finished off with melted shredded chedder cheese.

Ambrosia. You'd never pass up breakfast again. I do a mean biscuits and spicy chrorizo (mexican, not that european chorizo) sausage gravy also. (http://i.imgur.com/Zik9xM7.jpg)

You are looking at pictures of my breakfast. If you lived like me. You'd reach 6 foot 7 inches also and be the baddest 60 year old in the valley.
No Joke.  :)

OOOPs. Ambrosia is a southern term for " damn that tasted good" !

It is like when we say. "Bless his heart"

Like, "look at so and so try and clean up the mess he just made. Bless his heart."

It is the Dixie Land nice way of us southern boys just saying,

"look at so and so try and clean up the mess he just made. Boy he is stupid."
