If you have Android phone, is app "ElectroDroid" , also it have a plugin app "ATmicro Database".
It may be useful for you projects.
I do not own or have any connection of these apps, I just use these apps.

Hi bitsnpcs
The kit arrived today and i couldn't wait to get my hands on it. But i was really taken back when i discovered that i must have ordered the wrong kit. Instead of an Arduino UNO kit i was sent a Arduino Mega 2560 starter kit. Shall have to look out for some beginner tutorials to get me going lol.

Hi bitsnpcs
Will i be doing a blog or channel of the tutorials and projects? I don't think so. After all they more or less walk you through the tutorials and projects. Apart from that i'm not really clever lol and would hate to spoil anyone's enjoyment. If i should become more knowledgable concerning Arduino i would always be around if someone was stuck.

Hello Colin,

for the latest Arduino software visit https://www.arduino.cc/en/Main/Software

There are different version for Linux 32 Bit and Linux 64 Bit.
There is also a web interface, it seems to need a login, the sketches are stored in the cloud with the web based.

Yes Arduino Uno R3 works with the standard Arduino IDE, you have to install, and a driver, then set the COM port and board (uno) in the menus of GUI, it can be used for many Arduino models so is why to select which board you using at the time etc.
There are some pre-loaded sketches in the library and you can also write your own and save them for later.

Here is the playlist by Arduino creator Massimo Banzi for the starter kit -

Another it is in reverse order, newest first, scroll to end of list for first video

Hey, thanks for the advice and links bitsnpcs + Scott. Just a few moments ago i had a look in Synaptic and there is Arduino software. My search came up with:

Arduino version 2:1.0.5+dfsg2-4

Must be able to use the above software with Arduino UNO R3?

:) Have you tried Adafruit? They have a huge amount of instructional videos/lessons, for a general location go here (https://learn.adafruit.com/) and for the Arduino specifically, here are a few lessons:

Ladyada's Learn Arduino - Lesson #0
https://learn.adafruit.com/ladyadas-learn-arduino-lesson-number-0

Ladyada's Learn Arduino - Lesson #1
https://learn.adafruit.com/ladyadas-learn-arduino-lesson-number-1

Ladyada's Learn Arduino - Lesson #2
https://learn.adafruit.com/ladyadas-learn-arduino-lesson-number-2

I don't know if that's all the lessons in the series, you'll need to look and see if there are any others. Lastly, I don't have an Ardrino and can't vouch for the quality of the lessons so please post back in the fourm and let us know if this is a helpful resource.

Hello Colin,

here is link http://ubuntuhandbook.org/index.php/2015/11/install-arduino-ide-1-6-6-ubuntu/

I tried and was unable to set up Arduino IDE in LL, after I tried also a range of softwares for electronics and wasted an excessive amount of time on it, I came to my personal decision and gave up on the idea for anything electronics software related on any Linux Distro, at any future time.

I do think for others it is possible, some members may have done this as I noticed it mentioned in threads of other subjects as their hobby, also I seen at Arduino website mentions by Linux users of it.

Which Arduino are you awaiting delivery ?

I have just bought an Arduino kit and i'm awaiting delivery. I would like to ask other forum members how they downloaded and set up the software for Arduino. I did have a look in Lite Software but there was no mention of arduino.

I am running the 64bit version of Linux Lite.
