I also liked the idea it was a Collaboration, which happens a lot in nature, including combined with humans one example being where we spread plant seeds to other locations that stick to our clothes when running or walking near them.

If that poacher was a frequent visitor to their jungle, perhaps they really did know him by sight or scent or something, and all the critters wanted him gone.  Collaboration?  I kinda like the idea.
