Hello!

It looks like what they're doing is making you compile these drivers into the kernel - which is what had to be done for a LOT of peripherals in the earlier days of Linux. Apparently, from what I've read, these drivers are not yet included into the Linux kernel.

Just to be safe, I'd update kernels, make sure the updated kernel is going to work OK for you, then run this on the updated kernel, or a kernel other than the one you're using now. That way, it'll be easy to revert back to what you had if something goes wrong.

Lastly, keep in mind that every time you update the kernel in the future, you'll have to keep doing this until this driver is finally incorporated into the kernel - either by Jerry or by Ubuntu. In my somewhat-less-than-humble opinion, the folks who made this pup should've written a script to do all this for you...

Hi,

Just did a quick Google on this... seems to be lots of stuff out there.
This one seemed to be the most concise,

http://hackthistv.com/blog/alfa-awus036ac-how-to-install-drivers-for-linux/

However...
I don't know enough on the implications of running the commands on LL
Maybe somebody more knowledgeable can comment..??

It maybe the same as in the readme you have,
maybe you can cut and paste that in here.

I downloaded a driver from Alfa in regards to my new AWUS036AC wireless usb. It is a linux driver and since I am so new at this linux os there are many things I need to learn.  ;D I opened it and had no idea where to extract it to. I looked at some of the "read me" files and it looked like I had to enter the info into a terminal. I am not sure about that. I have a Toshiba laptop with intel i-3 processor and HD 4000 graphic hardware. I am not sure about what to do to get this usb wireless to work. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
