    • Linux Lite OS

  • CPU: Intel Core i9-10850K CPU @ 3.60GHz

  • MEMORY: 32Gb

  • VIDEO CARD: nVidia GeForce GTX 1650

  • Kernel: 5.x

In any case, it's not a huge deal. That laptop is now a back-up and quasi-Chromebook,  not meant to be on a LAN cable. It's a minor irritation.

Ok.

@Jerry - same thing happens with an Apple-made adapter. I noticed though that when the adapter is connected to the USB hub I normally have all my devices on, and then the Macbook connected to that hub - as opposed to having the Ethernet connection plugged directly into one of its two USB ports - the problem doesn't arise.

Jerry, I don't know but it isn't made by Apple. I'll borrow one from a friend that is and report back here.

Is the USB adapter confirmed as Mac compatible?

Hiya all, got my late-2011 Macbook Air all set up. Everything's good, and the OS definitely performs better than straight Ubuntu. Just one thing. With an ethernet connection plugged in (via a USB adapter, since this is an Apple) the machine will go through the usual boot sequence but once the swirling circle disappears, the screen goes black and stays black. Unplugging at that point doesn't help.

It's def the ethernet connection, other USB connections don't have that effect. It happens regardless of whether the wireless adapter is enabled or disabled.

Anything I can do to overcome this?
