I ran

and got this list:

Everything looks fine, but notice what happens on the 14th of January:

--- Code: ---2021-01-14 14:09:56 install libnvidia-extra-460:amd64 <none> 460.32.03-0ubuntu0.20.04.1
2021-01-14 14:09:56 install libnvidia-common-460:all <none> 460.32.03-0ubuntu0.20.04.1

2021-01-14 14:10:12 install linux-modules-5.8.0-38-generic:amd64 <none> 5.8.0-38.43~20.04.1
. . .

--- End code ---

It looks like, to me, that libnvidia wants to use the 5.8.0-38 modules.

On the command-line, I haven't installed much:

--- Code: ---zcat /var/log/apt/history.log.*.gz | cat - /var/log/apt/history.log | grep -Po '^Commandline: apt-get install (?!.*--reinstall)\K.*'

dosemu2
-f --show-progress ubuntu-restricted-extras libavcodec-extra58 -y
ninja-build libncursesw5-dev liblua5.2-dev zlib1g-dev libxft-dev
cmake-gui

--- End code ---

--- End code ---

I will monitor my laptop which I also installed Linux Lite on. Right now it is updating to 5.4.0-62 . . .

Very strange, because I don't usually deliberately install a specific Linux kernel :)

Fresh install on December 6th (IIRC) last year, so not even two months. But it has performed excellently and not been giving me any trouble, until now.

Jerry:
The 5.8 kernel can only be installed deliberately. What is the output of :

--- Code: ---uname -a
--- End code ---

jacmoe:
Well, I merely let Linux Lite do it's thing, and I haven't really paid any attention to what version of the kernel it wants to install when I run the Install Updates tool :)
And I have no real interest in messing around with bleeding edge Linux kernels. I just want a stable box.
Which Linux Lite really has been for me, until now.
Great work, guys!

When I initially installed Linux Lite, I downloaded the default ISO that appears in the download section. And I didn't mess with anything kernel related in the package manager.

Are you telling me that all of you other guys are on kernel 5.4 ?  :o

Jerry:
Was there a reason why you were using the 5.8 kernel?
