This is the only information I have been able to find.
https://wiki.debian.org/rt2800pci
I am unsure if it would work to use the commands it says, on Linux Lite, and I don't wish to make your wifi issue worse.
There is also a way to install update firmware from the command line, but I am also unsure about this.

Hopefully someone else has ideas?
I did notice from Google results that this driver has unsolved issues for connectivity, crashing, slow speeds/disconnects on Ubuntu forums, Linux Mint forums, and Manjaro forums, if this saves anyone some time looking about it.

Edit -
I just thought, after installing Linux Lite, have you checked for updates yet ?
Menu>Favorites>Install Updates.

Also can you try (in case it picks the driver up) -
Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get update
Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

Are you using kernel 4.4 or newer ?
Menu>System>System Information>Operating System

The driver is included in kernel from version 4.4 (Ubuntu say) otherwise it may need installing, using the wrong driver.

Code: [Select]
sudo lshw -C network
post the results of this for -
Description : Wireless
Configuration Lines

Hello davtio68,

do you have this button  ( ( i ) )
You need to check it is lighting up, if not press it so it lights up.
Next click the connections icon near the clock, choose your wifi, and type in the password.
