[ SOLVED ] broadcom wirelles card not working in other ubuntu based systems

A small note to this old topic.

Broadcom has published proprietary (closed source) Debian drivers for their Wifi cards.
In LL, you can install it from Settings --> Install Drivers.

I don't know about Windows but since those drivers are in Debian package, there should
be a way to install them to other Linux brands too

However, if the open source bcm43xx works, then I don't recommend to install the closed source drivers

Yep, and you can maybe use the connection sharing via USB also which should technically work whitout too much effort... maybe!

I had the problem of needing to install Broadcom wifi drivers, which were offered during LL installation, but without internet connection would be impossible to download.

What worked for me was to use my phone> internet sharing> share via bluetooth. (Bluetooth was already installed and working on LL).

So, once I got on-line via bluetooth, I installed the Broadcom wifi driver, (and other updates), then I was able to use wifi.

First, if you see Broadcom, run the other way
Joking aside, I had trouble with broadcom in the past and if I remember correctly, Jerry mentionned that broadcom support was added in LL (i.e. not in the Ubuntu distribution by default).

When I don't use LL and need those drivers, I use the ethernet or my thrusty USB-WiFi adapter to get those via the "Update Drivers" program.

I guess it would be possible to get the package on a USB key also.
The package seems to be here : \casper\filesystem.squashfs\lib\firmware\ (b43 and b43legacy)
But, I don't know how to transfer them to another ISO or installation... never tried.

hi guys something weird is happening with me....
i have tried installing other oses alongside LL but something weird is happening in all of them except LL.. i can't access or find any wifi network....something with drivers i guess...but i have the same options in all my oses and only linux lite is working...(i use the dont use this driver option in all of them) and btw(by the way) i have to ethernet cable so my only way to acces internet is by opening LL os ... (my wifi driver is broadcom4311) and all my oses are ubuntu base (xububtu lubuntu etc ) that the weired thing....
any help would be appreciated...really
(solved and changed the title to best fit the thread .. the solution was to connect your android mobile to internet and choose bluetoth tethering (more info down there)
