I reported earlier that this appeared to be common in a lot of the distros. But after some "playing" I found I could get it to work on all of those previously mentioned.

I clicked on the WiFi icon and the network list comes up. (If the list isn't there you may have a driver issue.. look elsewhere for solution). I clicked on my network name and the window came up asking for the password. I filled it in, and nothing happened. So far so bad.

I clicked on the panel icon again but this time I clicked "Edit Connections" at the bottom of the list. A different window came up and I found my WiFi name under WiFi and clicked on it. Then clicked "Edit".
A new window with the information already filled out comes up. (I think it was filled out because of the first step that didn't work, not sure but....) At the top I clicked on the "Security" and filled out the password. Save and close.

The icon started to spin and my wifi came up.
I tried this on a friends laptop and had to click on the panel icon, then click on the name in the list, then it started.
I've tried this on several distros and it works.
Hope this solves it for some of you.

Are you upgrading from V3.0?  If not, you may have to load broadcom wifi drivers.  Seems most Dell systems need this done.  I've found Netgear wifi usb plugs work off the bat.  Having one of those should get you to internet, then look up how to load broadcom drivers.  Will need to use terminal screen.

I'm having the same problem with the 3.2 release. And it's not just Lite. I've tried Ubuntu, Mint, Zorin, Ultimate, Xubuntu and Black Lab... all are having the same problem. Someone said it was the new shell??? I'm not a geek but if all are having the same issue and the shell change is common.... makes one wonder. Seems if you have AT&T Broadcom and someone updates then there's work to do. It was the same in 2014.
I'll keep running my 2.8 till this gets solved.
And I'll keep watching the forums. Love Lite.

Make sure your computer is not a multilingual keyboard. I used to have an Acer that had the same problem the [t] would come out as 6's, However it's been a while since I have had that problem but from what I remember I had to press a function key and f11 to set it to another mode.

Hope that helps.
I'v been bashing Windows way before Microsoft.....

Hi Hippocrat

As Bayoubooger said, this will fix the problem

Quote
On a Dell keyboard, upper right side is Print Scrn key next to it is Num Lk. Numeric pads on not normally on a laptop anyway.

Also, I've experienced the following with the Num Lk situation

1. If the screen locks the Num Lk may reactivate
So if you turn Num Lk off and the screen locks it may be on again. You will know this because your password may not work and/or there may be a light indicating Num Lk is on.

2. Use Lite Tweaks to disable Num Lk at login
But after making the change in Lite Tweaks you may need to reboot before it works properly. At least this was the case for me. This will also stop the issue above where NumLock activates at screen lock.

Thanx for the suggestion Keith - sadly no numeric pad on my laptop - still non-plussed at this peculiarity -

However, on a whim I tried punching in my wireless   key code while holding down the function and amazingly all my alpha letters came up as typed - but still no wifi connection.

Welcome to the forum :)
Has your keyboard an embedded numeric pad in it, as by default the num lock is activated, try turning num lock off and see if that helps.

Keith.

Hello to everyone from hippocrat - just joined - already have a problem!

I burned a copy of Linux Lite 3.2 and ran it as a live dvd - cannot get wifi to work - am running a Zyxel4965ton router- when I try to type in my alpha ten-letter wireless key I get the first two letters [r and p] but when I punch in the third letter [g] I get the number 6- this continues for the remainder of the key and I get no wifi.  I'm hoping to run linux lite on this my old Gateway machine which currently runs Zorin os9 with no problems.

I also run linux lite 3.0 from a usb stick on my other machine a Toshiba Tecra r840 with no probs - wifi comes up automatically.  Any ideas?  would welcome some feedback - thanx in anticipation   hippocrat
