Another option for folks looking at this post is install NdisWrapper. It is a Kernel module that allows Linux to use Windows drivers for wireless network devices.
Good Luck

Hello!

You have the LP-PHY wireless card, so if you have speed issues down the road, you may want use the b43 driver, instead. Get back with us if you need/want to do this...

OK  i will try this
so now that you can see my specs, what is my GPU?
Am I better served by LL 2.4 being an older netbook?  Currently running 2.6 <latest>

@thera.. I have a similar system.. Its a Dell Netbook but specs are very similar, I have it running LL2.6
Code: [Select]
Dell Inspiron Mini - Atom N270 1.6Ghz - 1GB - Intel Mobile 945GSE Express (Almost certain Broadcom WiFi) I had LL2.2 installed originally and upgraded it to LL2.6 - I cant say I have noticed any difference in performance from the 2 versions.
As Wirezfree mentioned its not a screamer; but for browsing, Office documents, email and the alike its fine..

My typical use (for work).. Connect to a VPN (over WiFi) and either RDP to various machines or run web/Java apps directly. It pushes along just fine...
Linux Lite runs much better than Win7... What can I say, I like the compact size  ;)

Your graphics controller is Display controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS/GME, 943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller.

You'll also be able to see it on the home page of the Lite Control Center.

Hi,

It was originally designed for WinXP, for day to day browsing, email... It's never going to be a "screamer" it's got a Atom N270 CPU
It will work fine for day to day stuff with 2.6... Just don't expect super performance... Below shows CPU Marks for the evolving Atom CPU

If what paul1149 wrote doesn't yield any options, you can go to Install/Remove Software (Menu, System, Install/Remove Software).  From there, perform a search on the word "Broadcom" and select the package named "bcmwl-kernel-source."  Mark it for installation and click on Apply.  That will add the driver for Broadcom Corporation BCM4312 802.11b/g to your computer.

Or if you want do the above faster, you can copy and paste the following code into a terminal:

Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get install bcmwl-kernel-source

The wifi card is broadcom.  Go to the main menu, type install drivers, click on the search result. Go to the last tab where you will be able to install broadcom.

Ditto the other folks.

According to http://www.cnet.com/products/acer-aspire-one-d150-1165-10-1-atom-n270-win-xp-home-1-gb-ram-160-gb-hdd/specs/, you may have an Acer InviLink 802.11b/g wifi adapter.  It could be a rebranded adapter, but we won't know for sure unless you do what paul1149 and thera said.

The Install Driver utility usually works quite well.  you need to be connect via ethernet when you run it though.
If it does not offer any drivers for you wireless card  please go to the terminal and type this command:
Code: [Select]
lspci and post the results here.

You should be able to get the card going.

Who makes the adapter? And did you use the Install Drivers utility on the main menu? Broadcom needs proprietary drivers.
